CHARITY CYCLE RIDE
If you're driving
towards Oxford this Saturday October 7th, and you pass a long line
of tired-looking cyclists, spare a thought for those way at the back.
They're the unfit
ones, who've volunteered to join the North London Superstars Sports
Club on their charity cycle ride from Central London all the way to
Oxford to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Research.
The fit ones
at the front are used to riding this kind of distance - two years
ago, they raised nearly a thousand pounds for Multiple Sclerosis Research
when they cycled to Brighton.
This year, there's
a more personal reason: little Annabelle Johnson is only two years
old, but she's one of the many thousands of CF victims in the UK.
And her uncle Scott is one of the riders.
Boxing champion
Lloyd Honeyghan will be at Waterloo Bridge to see the cyclists off
at eight on Saturday morning, and Annabelle will be waiting at the
finish line, 75 miles, ten hours and more than a few sore backsides
later.
They're taking
only one official break at the Palmer Arms Inn at Dorney, where there'll
be a collection box.
So if you can't
stop there and drop a few coppers in, at least give them an encouraging
wave as you drive by - they'll need all the help they can get!
